About Us
AIMSoc is a student-run community for all students interested in AI and ML. Our community enables students to dive into how AI works behind the screen, how ML models are trained, and how it is changing the world. We also plan to connect students with industry leaders in the field, and support their academic development in Australia's national university.
Our goal is to make AI accessible, hands-on and community-driven. We run beginner-friendly workshops, project nights and panel events that connect students with researchers, startups and the industry. We pride ourselves as a community of diverse and diligent students, and all students who are interested in AI and ML regardless of their background or degree is welcome to our society.

Do I need any coding or maths background?
No. Many of our events are beginner-friendly and designed for students from all degrees. If you can bring curiosity, we’ll help with the rest.
Do I have to be an ANU student to join?
Primary membership is for ANU students, but some events may be open to the wider Canberra community. Join the mailing list to stay updated.

How much does membership cost?
We’re currently free. Some special events may have small fees to cover food or prizes, but we’ll always keep things student-friendly.

I’m busy - how much commitment is expected?
Zero pressure. Come to the events that interest you; we’ll have options ranging from one-off talks to ongoing project groups.

Can I help organise or volunteer?
Yes! We’re especially keen to grow our founding team. Check out the “Join us” section or talk to us at an event.
